This article will briefly explain FTP, provide a list of recommended FTP software and provide a URL to FTP video tutorials.

What is FTP?

FTP is the acronym for File Transfer Protocol.

FTP is used by webmasters to copy, modify or delete files and/or folders from one computer to another. Our webmasters commonly use FTP to connect their home or work PC to our web server to upload website files and folders for use on their website.

What FTP Software should I use? Does it cost anything?

FTP Software varies greatly by vendor in both features and cost (ranging from free to paid versions). Your personal preference (for both features and cost) will determine what FTP software you settle on.
